Port Blair, Nov 01: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration to make arrangements for verification of double dose certificate of COVID-19 vaccine near DSS ticketing counter for the convenience of passengers of Shaheed Dweep and Swaraj Dweep.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary the Member of Parliament today pointed out that many Islanders of Shaheed Dweep and Swaraj Dweep have approached him on the issue of reported inconvenience being caused by people of these two Islands while travelling from Port Blair for verification of double dose certificate of COVID-19 vaccine.
He added that all passengers for Shaheed Dweep and Swaraj Dweep are presently asked to verify their double dose certificate of COVID-19 vaccine, from the verification center set up at Netaji Stadium area, after purchase of tickets.
The Member of Parliament mentioned that because of this system, one has to travel again from Phoenix Bay Jetty (ticketing Counter) to Netaji Stadium area only for verification of double dose certificate of COVID-19 vaccine.
He added that for travelling from Phoenix Bay Jetty (ticketing Counter) to Netaji Stadium area one has to pay nearly Rs. 100 as auto fare. Because of lockdowns and pandemic situations spending extra Rs. 100 as auto fare is hard for many Islanders. Most importantly, this time consuming system is causing a great deal of inconvenience for passengers, especially for ladies and aged people, the Member of Parliament mentioned.
