Port Blair, Sept 22: The Mission Director DAY-NULM (i.e.) the Secretary, Port Blair Municipal Council distributed certificates to the 25 trainees from 12 different SHG groups formed under the scheme of DAY-NULM, at conference hall of PBMC for undergoing short time training program on value addition of jack fruit in collaboration with Department of Agriculture, Andaman & Nicobar Administration.
The short term training program was attended by a total of 25 participants wherein they were educated and exposed on the diverse uses of jack fruit by preparing pickles, jams and jellies. The training program also focused on product packaging, preserving, labeling and branding, thereby educating the members on commercial lines.
The Secretary, PBMC emphasised on women empowerment and ensured to extend all possible handholding support to the trainees, encouraged them to make use of these training programs which will in turn enable them to become self-dependent in life paving way for a better future.
