Port Blair, Sept 21: Today at around 9.30 AM dozens of villagers of Habdipur area gathered at Habdipur Junction and staged protest against Administration for pathetic roads in their area. The protest was led by Mr. Anand Amrit Raj, ex-Upadhyaksh SAZP.
According to villagers due to land slide following heavy rain, a culvert suffered damages and the village road is in bad shape because of which, school students now have to walk 2 KM to get bus for schools.
Villagers alleged that the said road from Tushnabad to Ranchi Basti was reportedly repaired in 2010, last time.
As per details at around 10.00 AM Tehsildar, Ferrargunj reached the spot and convinced the villagers and assured them to start the construction of Culvert and start road repair works from 22 September onwards, following which the Dharna was called off at 11.15 AM.
