Port Blair, Aug 31: A Bird Marathon was organised by the Andaman Avians Club on Sunday 29th August 2021 to mark the 4th Foundation Day of the club.
The event started morning 6 AM from Bambooflat, after that the team covered in total 10 location in South Andaman. The event was lead by the team coordinators Bivash Kirtania, Amrit Raha, Reuben Kurian Paul in South Andaman. Club representative and founding member Mr. Ram Vikas also conducted a similar drill in Diglipur.
The event was concluded by a small gathering of the club at Chidiyatapu following all Covid-19 protocols. Club President Mr. Arun Singh honoured the past presidents and committee members of the club for their contribution to the club achievements in past years.
Places covered in Marathon in South Andaman are Mt. Harriet National Park, Kalatang IBA, Kadkachang Wetland, Mithakari Mangrove Patch, Orgrabranj Wetland, Lohabarack Crocodile Sanctuary, Burmanallah Coastal Patch, Garacharma Wetland, Hati Tapu Harbour and Chidiyatapu.
In North Andaman: Saddle Peak National Park, Lamia Bay, Kalipur Beach and Mangrove Patch. A vote of thanks was given by the General Secretary Salman Khan.
Andaman Avians Club with the motive of awareness among islanders towards bird conservation and protection will always be on a front foot to conduct such activities in the coming days.
