Por Blair, Aug 29: National Sports Day was celebrated on 29 August 2021 by Nehru Yuva Kendra Port Blair in association with St Joseph Youth Club, Lappa Tekri, Namunaghar, Lappa Terki.
This day of the event is celebrated every year to commemorate the birthday of Indian hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand.The main objective of National Sports Day is to spread awareness of the importance of sports and daily activities in every individual’s life. To mark this day various games like Volleyball tournament and Kabaddi tournament for youth were organized and Tug of War- Men’s and Passing Ball- Biscuit games for women and children were organized.
The event was participated by youth of St Joseph’s Youth Club and Blue Wales Youth Club. On this occasion Shri Sharfuddin (Social Worker, Ogbraraj) was invited as the chief guest and he also sponsored in prize distribution in this program. While Mr. Naresh Ram, NCUI and Mrs. Manjeet Kaur, Social Activist, were present as special guests.
Dr Sunita Patil, Lecturer, JNRM was also present as a special guest. Mr. Simson (Social Worker, Namunaghar) and Mr. A. Sharif (Social Worker, Namunaghar) were also present as guests.
