Port Blair, Aug 11: Residents of Car Nicobar are suffering heavily due to zero mobile internet connectivity in most of the villages of Car Nicobar Islands.
Residents of Car Nicobar told Andaman Sheekha Daily that many villages like Kakana, Tamaloo, Kinyuka, Chuckchucha, Tapoiming, Big Lapati, Small Lapati, Kinmai, Sawai, Mus, Arong and Kimois have very poor BSNL network issue and almost zero mobile internet connectivity.
Only Malacca and Perka villages have proper mobile internet network connectivity because these villages are close to headquarters area. Apart from these two villages, all villagers are badly hit because of weak network connectivity.
The schools and college students are the worst hit as they are unable to do their online studies.
When contacted by this reporter, Mr. Murali Krishna the Chief General Manager of BSNL A&N Circle said that at present there are six telecom towers at Car Nicobar, due to lack of network coverage from these towers there is poor network connectivity, he added.
The Chief General Manager further pointed out that for strong network connection we need a new tower, which is not possible at this time.
However he pointed out that Airtel is erecting a new tower in Sawai area of Car Nicobar within two months after which BSNL might share the tower for better network connectivity.
In present time, when most of the schooling is done through online mode one can understand how badly students of Car Nicobar are hit due to poor internet connectivity.
