Port Blair, July 18: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands on 16 July 2021 along with a delegation met the Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration Mr. Jitendra Narain and highlighted the issues of part time employees/workers numbering around 750 like Pre Primary Teachers, Craft Instructors, Pre Primary Ayah/ Safai Karmachari and Attendants posted at various schools of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
During the meeting the Member of Parliament pointed out that these part time employees have been serving the department for more than 10 to 20 years and they are paid salary for only 10 months in an academic year.
He requested that taking into consideration the Covid-19 pandemic out break and subsequent lockdowns these part time employees may be re-engaged for the current academic session.
The Chief Secretary gave a patient hearing and assured early action in this regard.
