Port Blair, Oct 31:The Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM has sanctioned two lakh rupees out of LG’s Relief Fund to Mr. V. Satyanarayan, R/o Tsunami Shelter Pahar, Bambooflat, on account of the death of his two sons in a boat tragedy that occurred in the sea between North Bay and Madhuban. On 9th November 2008, the two brothers Mr. V. Srinivas Rao (25 yrs) and Krishna Ganaga Prasad (19 yrs) went for a picnic along with their friends by hiring an engine dingy. The engine dingy sank into the sea and both the brothers got drowned into the sea and their dead bodies were found on 13th & 14th November 2008.
The family members of the deceased persons approached Ms V. K. Mariyam Bibi, Zilla Parishand Member, Wimberlygunj requesting for financial assistance. On 8th October 2012, Ms Mariyam Bibi requested the Lt Governor for financial help to family of the victims as they have no other source of livelihood.
