Port Blair, June 24: Yesterday on 23rd June a distress call was received in Coast Guard Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre, Chennai (MRCC) from Campbell Bay’s three fishermen, onboard a Dinghy namely, Manikam.
As per details on 17 June 2021, three fishermen on the fishing dinghy had gone for fishing in Afra Bay area and they were untraceable since 22nd June night.
On receipt of distress call Coast Guard started search operation and message was also passed to Campbell Bay Police, after which Marine Police also started search operation.
As per details today evening local fishermen of Campbell Bay area found all three missing fishermen from Makachua area and spotted that the dinghy is stuck on rocks.
The missing fishermen were brought back to Campbell Bay this evening and as per them, on 22nd June night they slept at sea shore area of Makachua and when they got up on 23rd June they found their dinghy stuck in rocks. As they were stranded they pressed distress switch of DAT, which sent an SOS signal to MRCC.
