Port Blair, June 11: The Secretary IP&T Mr. SK Singh informed today that the figures, which administration is receiving regarding the number of positive cases in GB Pant Hospital is slightly reducing, which is a good sign but still citizens of A & N islands are requested to follow Covid Appropriate Behavior.
While addressing a COVID-19 media briefing in the conference hall of IP&T, the Secretary today informed that the decision regarding extension of lockdown will be taken tomorrow (14 June 2021), after keeping in mind about all the various aspects, he pointed out.
Mr. SK Singh further pointed out that yesterday among 563 passengers who landed at Port Blair Airport, 12 were found COVID-19 positive during RT-PCR test. Today altogether four flights with 344 passengers arrived at Port Blair Airport and all passengers have undergone RT-PCR test and results for today’s RT-PCR is awaited. He further informed that 98 persons (travelers) bound for N&M Andaman were tested at Ferrargunj; none of them were tested COVID-19 positive.
Today, being Sunday no vaccination drive was conducted, he added.
The Director, ANIIMS, Dr. AK Mandal, informed the media persons that today there was one new COVID patient admitted in G.B. Pant Hospital and 08 patients got discharged. With this, the number of Corona positive patients in the Hospital is 26. Out of the 26 patients, 16 are on Oxygen support and one patient is on ventilators.
Later the Deputy Director GB Pant Hospital, Dr. Amitabha De said that today no new admission or discharge was reported at COVID Care Centers and the number of patients in the COVID Care Centers is 09 and at Wimberlygunj COVID Care Center today one new patient was admitted and at present 03 patients are admitted, he added.
