Port Blair, May 31: The Director of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs today clarified that only AAY & PHH Ration Card holders can collect 12 kg of Sugar from the nearest PDS Shop using their Ration Cards.
As per information received only Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Priority Households (PHH) Ration Card holders are eligible under National Food Security Act (NFSA).
When Andaman Sheekha contacted Mr. Deepak Pundir, the Director of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs to clarify public doubt on this issue, he informed “12kg of sugar is for NFSA beneficiaries which means only AAY & PHH card holders will receive ration items according to their entitlement, Above Poverty Line (APL) card holders don’t come under NFSA”, the Director pointed out.
Earlier, the Director of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs during a live phone in programme through All India Radio had disclosed that all the Ration Card holders who are eligible for subsidised food grains through Public Distribution System (PDS) under National Food Security Act (NFSA) can now collect 12 kg of Sugar from the nearest PDS Shop using their Ration card. This is the quota was allocated during the last one year but was not disbursed.
He further said that the quota of Sugar has been disbursed to PDS Shop’s in South Andaman and Nicobar District, and soon the quota for North and Middle Andaman will be dispatched.
