Port Blair, May 03: Yesterday while regular patrolling, an Indian Coast Guard ship spotted a Myanmarese fishing dinghy with nearly 10 poachers, near Barren Island. On seeing Coast Guard ship the poachers tried to escape but while taking the dinghy close to Barren Island, the fishing dinghy reportedly capsized near Barren Island after hitting a rock.
According to highly placed sources, the Coast Guard team was able to apprehend two poachers from sea but nearly eight other poachers reportedly ran inside the Jungle of Barren Island.
Sources said that the matter was soon intimated to Andaman Police after which a search team was formed and search operation was launched.
