Port Blair, Mar 28: Several residents of Lal Tikry region of Pahalgaon to Chainpur area of Mayabunder Tehsil today complained that since last three days the area has been witnessing several hour-long power cuts, making life difficult for the public.
Residents complained that sometimes the unannounced power cuts are even 12 hours long.
“We have tried to contact all senior officers of Electricity Department in Mayabunder area but till now we have not received any reply to explain why such pathetic service provided by them to the public,” said Mr. Shivananda Bairagi President of Kisan Morcha and former Pradhan of Pahalgaon Panchayat.
He requested the Superintendent Engineer of Electricity Department and the Deputy Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman through media to intervene in this matter and bring some solution for this problem of indiscriminate power cuts in the region.
“There is no JE in Tugapur area and other staffs in Tugapur office of Electricity Department are unable to explain why such marathon Power Cuts are being witnessed in our area,” Mr. Bairagi added.
