Port Blair, Feb 08: A good number of tourists visiting Baratang Islands these days are complaining about misinformation and cheating by a few tour operators, as after reaching Baratang Island, these tourists find that except mud volcano no other tourism activities are open at Baratang Island.
Recently some tourists visiting Andaman complained Andaman Sheekha that they were taken to Baratang Islands by promising a good number of activities but after reaching Baratang they realize that no tourism activities are allowed at Baratang, except a visit to Mud Volcano, which usually fails to impress most of the tourists, who reach Baratang by travelling nearly 100 KM and going through tiring COVID-19 formalities.
Not only this a few tour operators who are involved in such activities, charge heavily for the cab trip, from the tourists.
Such incidents not only leave tourists upset but also send a wrong message about Andaman Tourism.
There is an urgent need to either open all tourism activities for tourists at Baratang Island or to develop some mechanism to spread right information among visiting tourists that tourism activities are closed in Baratang Islands, as soon as they land in Andaman.
The Tourism Department should also immediately post a staff at Ferrargunj Check post to see whether all tourists, who are being taken to Baratang Island by tour operators, are aware about the closer of all tourism activities at Baratang Island, so that no one can cheat tourists.
