Port Blair, Jan 12: In a first informal media interaction, Mr. Satyendra K Garg, Director General of Police, A&N Police spelled out his priorities, in clear terms.
Improving the traffic scenario, curbing crimes, including drugs, illegal sale of liquors, expedite the modernisation of the police force and making police more people-friendly are high on his agenda.
Immediately after assuming the office of DGP, A&N Police, he reviewed the law & order and traffic issues and passed out certain directions for improvement in the traffic situation, which were highly appreciated by public.
The DGP told the mediapersons that since his taking charge as DGP, he has been making best efforts to understand the Policing here, the people and the issues here.
Since he has a lot of experience working in the traffic sector during the Delhi Commonwealth Games, he has some understanding of traffic issues and is doing his best to improve the traffic situation in the city.
The primary intention is to make the city safe to all the residents and is confident of making positive changes in traffic enforcement and parking situations in the city.
Responding to a question on designating a senior Police Officer as Public Relation Officer (PRO) who can talk with mediapersons and respond to their queries, the DGP informed that shortly a Superintendent of Police level officer, most likely the District SP will be designated as PRO, A&N Police to clarify the queries and doubts of media persons.
