Port Blair, Jan 05: Large potholes, developed on the newly constructed ATR stretch from Garacharma to Lalpahar area has become a serious risk for ATR commuters. In some areas the top layer of the road has gone missing, raising questions over the quality of work carried out by the contractor.
As per details due to some reasons, on the said stretch of road instead of constructing new road, the NHIDCL had overlaid one layer over the existing road but public argues that even though, in that case, the contractor must repair the road for one year as per terms and condition of NHIDCL. Public asks why the road is not being repaired and large potholes are not filled, which can cause serious accidents at any point of time. Despite repeated attempts, NHIDCL officials were unavailable over phone to comment on this issue.
