Port Blair, Dec 15: A GoAir flight C81101 today reached Port Blair airport at around 4.50 PM but the arrival of the aircraft with around 160 passengers triggered a ripple in local Administration.
It is learnt by the local Administration that the flight brought passengers, while as per schedule, the flight was supposed to bring only cargo.
Another GoAir fight from Chennai was reportedly sent back to Chennai and was not given permission to land at Port Blair, as that flight was also having passengers onboard, it is alleged.
It took nearly two hours for the Administration and Airport Authority to allow the passengers to de-board the GoAir flight at Port Blair Airport.
When contacted the Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman Mr. Suneel Anchipaka today said “As per schedule the flight was supposed to bring only cargo but when we got information that the flight brought passengers, we had to mobilize a lot of things and get several permissions from DGCA. Hence de-boarding was delayed.”
He said that even for COVID tests and TR slips, District Administration had to mobilize people to Airport, which naturally takes time.
