Port Blair, Dec 02: It seems that the local Administration has no control over the NHIDCL and there is no one to monitor the quality of work carried out by the NHIDCL and whether road repair works are carried out as per the agreement.
In 2016 and 2017, people have seen that said stretch of road was in most horrible shape, later the NHIDCL up-graded the road stretch by laying a thick road surface over the old road surface.
Sadly the newly upgraded stretch has now developed thousands of potholes and in many parts the road surface has gone missing.
As per rule the NHIDCL contractors are liable to repair road for certain years if it gets damaged but the said road stretch is developing such damages since last one year but no repair work has been carried out by the concerned contractor till now.
As a result the road between Jirkatang and Middle Strait, which was less painful for ATR commuters has once again become bumpy, giving nightmare to the public.
Major culvert works and land-sliding repair works in certain areas along this stretch of road is also adding to the woes of the ATR commuters.
Public are now requesting the Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman to conduct a surprise inspection of ATR stretch from Ferrargunj to Middle Strait to see the ground realities himself.
