Port Blair, Nov 26: On complaint that a steel plate of crucial R K Nallah Bailey Bridge inside Jarawa Area between Jirkatang and Middle Strait, has suffered some damages, which might led to a major accident, the NHIDCL repaired the bridge on time.
According to reports after information of the damage in the bridge, which the second Bailey Bridge from Jirkatang, movement of heavy vehicles was prohibited on 24 and 25 November 2020 and hence many heavy vehicles could not cross ATR since last two days. However after repair today normal movement of heavy vehicles on ATR was restored.
Two Bailey Bridges inside Jarawa Tribal Reserve area after Jirkatang are very crucial for ATR connectivity. Several years back one of these two bridges had collapsed when a truck was crossing the bridge, which resulted in one death and that accident had also halted movement on ATR for several days.
