Port Blair, Nov 22: Displaying exemplary resolve in weeding out corruption in these Islands, a team of Anti-Corruption Unit arrested Surveyor M.Krishna of Revenue Department along with the middleman D.Satish Chandran on 21/11/2020 for demanding and accepting illegal gratification for demarcation of plots.
The Anti Corruption Unit received a written complaint on 21/11/2020 that the official of Revenue Department is demanding bribe for demarcation of land of the complainant situated at Sippighat Village through a middleman. Subsequently, an FIR under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was registered at PS Anti-Corruption and a trap laying team comprising of independent witnesses was formed.
Later, on receipt of call from the witness accompanying the complainant at the demarcation site at Sippighat, the trap team intercepted Surveyor M Krishna along with the middleman D Satish Chandra sitting in the car of M Krishna after demarcation of the subject land and caught them red handed with the tainted bribe money and they were brought to PS ACU & arrested after observing all codal formalities.
