Port Blair, Nov 19: Considering the problems being faced by ATR passengers during Rapid Antigen Testing at Ferrargunj Check Post, the Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman Mr. Suneel Anchipaka today sent a team of District Administration to inspect that how a shed can be erected near the check post to protect ATR passengers from rain and scorching sun.
Andaman Sheekha had highlighted this issue few days back in newspaper and on 17 November, this daily forwarded photographs of passengers struggling in long queues under scorching sun to undergo RAT.
On 17th November 2020, the Deputy Commissioner had promised to send an inspection team and today morning a team reached the site. As per details from tomorrow works for erecting a shed for passengers will start at Ferrargunj and the shed will remain there till Rapid Antigen Tests are conducted by District Administration.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha Mr. Suneel Anchipaka has assured that similar shed will also be erected infront of Ferrargunj Panchayat, where also ATR passengers have to stand in queue to deposit money and name verification before undergoing Rapid Antigen Test.
The prompt action of Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, the Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman is highly appreciated.
