Campbell Bay, November 17: Several people from the fishermen community and other residents of Campbell Bay organised a strike on Monday demanding frequent failing of ship for Campbell Bay and also 4G internet connectivity for the Island.
As per details, the people furious over sailing of very less number of ships for Campbell Bay Island, sat on protest at zero point area of Campbell Bay at 9 am on Monday which continued till 6 pm.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha Mr. G Venket Rao, Ex Pramukh of Panchayat Samiti, said that he along with Mr. G Chandrashekhar, President of Fishermen association wrote several letters to the district administration of Nicobar in this regard on 20th October, 4th November and 13th November
respectively but these problems were not resolved. Hence public sat on protest to press these demands.
According to Mr. G Venket Rao by evening protesting people got a written assurance from the district administration of Nicobar that from now there will be three direct ships to Campbell Bay and two All Port Ships in a month and also by February 10th, 2021 4G connectivity will be provided in Great Nicobar Island, following these assurances the protest was withdrawn.
