Port Blair, Sept 24: According to directions of the Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman, the AYUSH Units of CHC Rangat has conducted an AYUSH Health Camp along with POSHAN MAAH Celebration and an exhibition of Paushtik Aahar at Aamkunj Anganwadi Center, Nimbutala, under Middle Andaman Sub-division, on 24 September 2020. Dr.B.Bindu Kumar Medical Officer (Homoeo), CHC Rangat spoke at length on various health topics and on the importance of Poshan Maah and why it is celebrated during September every year with special emphasis on the COVID-19 Pandemic background and its impact on nutrition of pregnant mother and children.
India observes September as Poshan Maah or Nutrition Month to strengthen the nutritional goals for the country and make India free from Malnutrition by 2025. The future generation growing in the womb need special care and attention, therefore the first one thousand days of life is key and critical and it is the first window of opportunity which needs proper and adequate nutrition.
Under the National Development Agenda, Government of India launched Poshan Abhiyaan, a multi-ministerial convergence mission with a vision to address malnutrition in a targeted approach and the Poshan Maah to ensure community mobilisation and bolster people’s participation, every September.
Dr.Bindu Kumar examined patients and distributed Homoeo Immune Booster Medicine to about 60 house holds covering all their family members. He also briefed on General Precaution to be taken during this COVID-19 Pandemic in simple mnemonics ((Like S.M.S. & E.D.S; Here S.M.S. stands for protecting from infection through Social-Distance, Mask & Soap/Sanitiser and EDS to strengthen immune our system through Exercise (daily), Diet (Balanced Natural Diet), Stress-free-Life (through Prayers/ Meditation practice.)), which are the best ways to protect and strengthen our immune system. Miss. Vinu Yoga Instructor also conducted a brief session on Yoga to benifit for a healthy body and mind.
The team also included, Homoeo Pharmacist, Shri.Robert Banerjee, CHO Smt.S. Sujata, AANM Dweepika Das, Health worker Shri. Deepak Mondal, ASHA worker Smt. Sumati Dey with the active cooperation of ICDS, Rangat officials viz- DPA(Poshan Abhiyan) Smt. M.ASHA and Smt. Mangalawati, BPA (Poshan Abhiyan) Smt. Sarita Singh, AWW Smt.Deepa Bairagi and AWW Helper Smt.Sarojini Gayali. Shri. Robert thanked the ICDS Team for motivating the villagers, pregnant mothers for participation by following social distancing norms.
