Port Blair, September 13: It appears that the SBI ATMs in Little Andaman region are out of order since last one week. As already the far flung islanders are suffering due to the pandemic, the breaking down of the machine has added more discomfort in their lives.
As per reports there are two SBI ATMs in Little Andaman region, one at Rama Krishnapur and the other at Hut Bay.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted Mr. Babul Sarkar, Pradhan, Netaji Nagar, Little Andaman, he said that since past one week the SBI ATMs are not working and due to no shipping services, the matter is not being dealt with.
The SBI branch has said that they will be issuing cash amount of not more than twenty thousand to the people to conduct trade, which is a problem for many.
Mr.Sarkar further informed that, as there is no money the daily livelihood is getting difficult and the people are complaining.
“The small businesspeople and the ones who conduct different fast cash trade are facing problems mainly because they have daily transactions to do” added Mr.Sarkar.
Sources in Hut Bay told Andaman Sheekha that yesterday also a helicopter was sent to Hut bay and it is just due to lack of planning that no one was sent to Hut Bay to repair those ATMs.
It is a matter of fact that when Covid-19 pandemic has been a drastic issue for the big shots of the society, it is obvious that more than them these daily rated earners suffer the most as they don’t have much savings and life support and when such misery occurs in earning bread it turns out to be a calamity for the daily workers.
