As per reports a patient treated recently by the staffs of PHC Shaheed Dweep has turned out to be Corona infected after he was referred to GB Pant Hospital, Port Blair. The situation had caused a panic-like situation in the Shaheed Dweep Island.
According to reports, Mr. Sambhu Nath Kundu, Junior Engineer, Andaman Lakshadweep Harbor Works, Shaheed Dweep was admitted at the PHC Shaheed Dweep on 11th August 2020.
The doctor and the paramedical staff of the PHC tried their best to treat the patient, although after the condition of the patient went more critical he was referred to GB Pant Hospital, Port Blair on 13th August 2020 through vessel MV Bambooka. At Port Blair he was tested Corona positive yesterday.

Taking the matter very seriously, the Pradhan of Shaheed Dweep, Mr. Ram Krishna Biswas has written a letter to the District Commissioner South Andaman as well as the Nodal Officer Corona requesting them to provide the PHC with proper safety kits and testing equipments as soon as possible.
“There is also only one doctor in the Island and it is not sufficient to take care of the population here, I demand the DHS to depute one more doctor in the PHC Shaheed Dweep for time being,” Mr. Ram demanded.
Meanwhile, talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Director of Health Services, Dr. Ashok Dubey said that the matter is not yet in his knowledge, although he agreed that there is a shortage of PPE kits. “We have already ordered the PPE kits and once, it reaches us we will immediately send it to Shaheed and Swaraj Islands,” Dr. Ashok Dubey said.
