Port Blair, July 17: The District Commissioner Office of the South Andaman region was sealed this morning after a staff of the Department was found Corona positive.
As per reports, an 18 member team was supposed to leave today to Great Nicobar for a month with the given task of conducting an outline survey of the Island, as a result, all the members were medically checked yesterday after 01:00 pm, out of which, one of the members of the team was tested Corona Positive.
Keeping this in mind, the travel of the team was canceled and all the other team members were called up late evening yesterday and were informed to remain under quarantine with the other family members at home.
As per the latest reports poured in, the other offices in that particular area like the SDM office, Office of the District Superintendent of Police, and the Tehsildar Office are sealed and fumigation is currently on, in all the offices.
The members of the team are now in a dilemma as according to them, yesterday before they were informed to remain under quarantine, they have met several people and even touched their children (some are just a few months old) at home.
“As the Corona positive cases are increasing steadily in these Islands, the offices must call the staffs in shifts or not allow the people inside the office, as no work is happening at the office, in reality,” said a staff on the condition of anonymity.
However, it is learned that around 50 samples have been collected today by the health professionals for testing while the samples for the other left ones will be collected tomorrow. The DC Office offices and other offices alongside it will also remain shut till Monday, it is learned.
