Port Blair, June 25: The Up-Adhyaksh of North and Middle Andaman Zilla Parishad Mr. Alager Swami has demanded that thermal scanning, mandatory for ATR Passengers, should be carried out at STS Bus Stand and not at Jirkatang Check Post.
He said that passengers with high temperature are asked to leave the STS Bus at Jirkatang Check Post, from where the passengers, especially ladies, find it very difficult to return to Port Blair.
“Yesterday afternoon three girls were asked to get off from Baratang Express Bus after it was found they are having high temperature. The girls of Baratang were not carrying sufficient money to hire another vehicle or buy ticket for another bus from Jirkatang. Even if someone has money it is extremely difficult at this point of time to get a lift or a seat in any Bus from Jirkatang for Port Blair,” he said.
The Up-Adhyaksh also added that in such cases atleast the Transport Department or the Police Department must arrange a safe transport back home for passengers, who are asked to get off the bus due to high –temperature at Jirkatang Check Post.
