Port Blair, Sept 18: With the onset of rain, the availability of water and feed in plenty makes the climate conducive for rearing of ducks. Ducks are very hardy and can be reared in free range system. Ducks meant for egg production can be kept economically for two-three years as against the chicken meant for egg, which can be kept only for one year after maturity. Duck eggs are larger and weigh around 65- 75gms.
Day old Ducklings will be available for sale at the Central Hatchery Unit, Livestock Farm Complex Dollygunj on 21.09.2012 between 6 am & 7 am. Interested farmers may contact the SVO, Central hatchery Unit, Livestock Farm Complex, Dollygunj for their requirement of ducklings.
