In his letter he mentioned that it has come to light that many permanent inhabitants of A & N islands
are stranded at Chennai, Vizag, Kolkata, Delhi, Rajasthan, Bangalore etc. cities. He added that most of the stranded islanders are patients (who had gone for treatment at mainland), students, old aged persons, many government, private employees, devotees, spouses and children, business men of these Islands etc.
“These islanders have not been able to return to islands due to lockdown and are presently living under extreme stress being exhausted, physically/ mentally/ financially. As such, their return at the earliest convenience would be of paramount importance,” Mr. Ray added.
