Port Blair, May 10: Already under tremendous mental stress for staying in Andaman Guest House, KK Nagar, Chennai since lockdown, food supplied with worms in it, has now weakened the left out strength of the stranded islanders at Chennai.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Mr. Mohit Lall, a stranded Islander staying at the KK Nagar Guest House said that they are already under tremendous stress as they don’t have any idea that when the Andaman Administration will arrange for their travel to Andaman and Nicobar Islands and meanwhile, the pathetic food, that is supplied here, is adding to their woes.
“I have found worms in my plate and ants were also found in the chapati,” said Mr. Lall.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted the DRC Chennai (incharge) in this regard, Ms. Boobalkani said that on a complaint she immediately raised the matter with the in-charge food supply Mr. Ravichandran, ARO Corporation of Chennai and they have also called the food inspector to check the quality of the supplied food.
“The ARC Cooperation is supplying food to 5000 people in Chennai currently and from nowhere such a complaint has been raised even the food inspector has given a clean chit to them, however, the reason is not yet known for the worms found in one of the plates,” said Ms. Boobakalani.
Meanwhile, she added that on request of the people the authorities are providing chapati to the people of the Andamans, in the evening and here in Chennai people don’t know to cook chapati, “that’s perhaps the reason why the quality of chapati is not up to the mark,” Ms. Boobakalani added.
The video available in social media, in which one stranded passenger of Andaman is showing worm in the plate has made many deeply disappointed in Andaman and that is why the video has now become viral.
Whatever might be the reason behind the incident but the actual problem is that stranded people are getting more and more upset everyday due to delay in arrangement of any transport for them from Chennai and Port Blair.
Hope the Administration manages to arrange some comfortable transport these people who are stranded at Chennai and also in other parts of Mainland India.
