Port Blair, Apr 27: As Andaman and Nicobar Islands are witnessing surge in COVID-19 cases, 4 people from Garacharma area were arrested yesterday on the charges of gathering for a group prayer. The arrest came after a police team of PS Pahargaon following inputs entered a house at around evening hours and found four people offering prayers in congregation, violating norms of social distancing and also neglecting lockdown orders. It is learnt that three men had come to the house of fourth man, a neighbor, for offering prayers. All four arrested persons, arrested under section 188,269, 270 IPC, were later given bail.
