Port Blair, Jan 25: The Chief Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar Administration released the CD containing publication of Basic Statistics 2011. Principal Secretary (Planning/Statistics) was also present. A copy of CD was handed over to him by the Director of Economics & Statistics. This is the first time a CD of this publication has been released by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics.
The Directorate of Economics and Statistics collects official statistics from all the departments and disseminate data to stakeholders through publication of statistical data sets such as Basic Statistics, “A&N Islands At a Glance”, District Hand Books, Meteorological Statistics, Islandwise Statistical Outline & Transport Statistics etc.
Efforts are being made to provide data to stakeholders without time lag. All the recent data sets are made available online through the Administration’s website.
In this endeavour of the Directorate to provide data to stakeholders, cooperation from all the departments to provide data in time is solicited. Few new data sets are planned to be published shortly.
To facilitate the stakeholders, it is decided to provide data initially in a CD form so that data can be available in a soft copy within the year.
This CD will be made available to all the stakeholders shortly through the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Quarry Hill, Phoenix Bay.
