Port Blair, Sept 13: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, INTUC, in a letter to the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration has appreciated the decision of the Administration to enhance the monthly consolidated salary of the staff car drivers of the Secretariat establishment from Rs. 8236/- to Rs. 11,500/- with effect from 1st July, 2012.
Mr. Sharma has requested to the Chief Secretary for similar enhancement in respect of the twenty four Bus Drivers employed on contract basis in the Directorate of Transport since 2006.
In his letter Mr. Sharma has also advocated for issue of appropriate direction by the A & N Administration for similar increase in monthly salary for all Heavy and Light vehicle drivers also who were appointed on contract basis prior to 1st July, 2012 by various departments of A & N Administration. Mr. Sharma has pleaded that such enhancement in the salary will not only boost the working capacity and morality of such drivers but their family members will also get some relief in these hard days.
