Port Blair, Apr 02: The Member of Parliament, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has taken up the following issues with the Lt. Governor on 02.04.2020 for remedial action in the welfare of the people of the Islands in the present lockdown situation due to COVID-19.
To request all the concerned banks to deliver pensions at the houses of all the 26,000 beneficiaries of old age, widow, destitute and divyang persons in the wake of COVID-19 considering the health condition and safety of the beneficiaries, which would be of great help to them.
To provide Advance Stipend to all the Students studying at various Colleges at Mainland and also all the Colleges in Andaman & Nicobar Islands as it has become very difficult for the students for their livelihood due to acute shortage of money and other materials. There are many parents of the students who are facing hardship due to present lockdown situation and having financial burden.
To consider setting up of Relief Camp at various locations in all three districts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands so that assistance from the administration/government is provided through such relief camps to all category of needy and vulnerable people residing even in the remotest locality with less movement or displacement from their place of residence to such relief camps like the relief camp at Bhatubasti.
To grant financial assistance at the rate of Rs. 3000/- to workers of Cobbler and Coconut Water Sellers so as to lesser their financial burden and for their livelihood.
