Port Blair, Mar 31: In view of the spread of COVID-19 in the country and as part of several measures to contain the spread of the disease in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the local Administration has chartered an Air India cargo flight to transport some essential medical supplies to the Islands.
The Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration today shared two images of the aircrafts in twitter, which brought these materials.
The Air India Special Cargo chartered flight today arrived here from Chennai with 0.5 tonne of Mask, 70 kgs of PPE (kit), 20 packets of Hollow Fiber Dialyzer, 3 tonnes of Sanitizers, 2.5 tonnes of Sodium Hypochlorite and 1 tonne of Bleaching powder.
“Apart from this, one C-17 aircraft of A&N Command will be bringing some more essential items from Delhi. These include 3 lakh 3-ply masks, 90,000 gloves, 15,000 sanitizers besides 5,000 N-95 masks,” the Secretary Disaster Management, A&N Administration informed here today.
Till now the total number of cases which have been found positive in Andamans, is 10 out of 99 samples tested in this UT.
As on today, all patients of confirmed cases of COVID-19 are healthy and stable. They are cooperating in contact listing to find out those who came in their contact after they infected with virus.
