Port Blair, Mar 27: Seeing the problems faced by the General Public for not getting Ration, Milk, Vegetable through one shop only in all the areas. The Member of Parliament has requested the Administration to increase at least 4 no’s of shops at every area so that general public doesn’t suffer. He also requested tat Medical shops to be allowed to operate at all places.
Meanwhile, in a letter written to the Secretary PBMC, the MP demands use of face mask and hand gloves by the sanitary workers of PBMC while discharging duties to prevent spread of virus in view of threat of COVID-19 outbreak.
“It is bring to your notice as reported by the residents/general public from various corners of Municipal area that the Sanitary workers of PBMC while performing their assigned duties are not wearing the face mask and hand gloves though the same have been provided to them by the PBMC for their safety while discharging duties. If these workers not wear this safety items, it will not only harmful for them while discharging duties but also possibility of spreading virus to the others. Hence, it is requested to pass necessary directions/ instructions to all the Sanitary workers of PBMC to wear face mask and hand gloves as mandatory requirement while discharging their duties to keep themselves safe and others also from spreading virus in view of threat of COVID -19 outbreak,” the MP said.
Here the MP also requested the Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration to issue orders to all Cable operators to show all TV channels to their subscribers.
In another letter to the Director of Health Service the MP said that many helpless attendants of the patients admitted in GB Pant Hospital have called him and informed me that due to sudden lockdown to fight against possible threat of COVID 19 the hotels, restaurants, canteen in the premises of GB Pant Hospital have been shut down from where these attendants were getting their food. “As a result they are starving as they have no other options to get food. Hence I request you to kindly allow food to such attendants as a humanitarian gesture along with the patients,” he said in his letter.
Meanwhile, in yet another letter to the Labour Commissioner, the MP said that due to lockdown declared from the midnight of 24th March 2020, 5000 members of Andaman and Nicobar Island Building & Construction workers welfare Board have become financially handicapped and hence I earnestly request you to kindllcy consider financial assistance of Rs 3000/- to each workers from welfare Cess as a welfare measure.
“Your such humane gesture will be appreciated by one and all. Hope to get positive consideration from your end,” the MP said who is also the Sharma
President of Indian National Trade Union Congress.
