Port Blair, Feb 13: The PBMC has informed all the Street Vendors that the implementation of “Andaman & Nicobar Islands Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Scheme-2016 is enforced by Port Blair Municipal Council. Accordingly, in terms of the provision of the scheme at Chapter-IX, clause 21, Street vendors are directed to strict adherence to various rules. These are the local authority (PBMC) shall designate a proper place to dispose off the waste materials in order to maintain a hygienic environment by the street vendors. The Street Vendors shall use proper covered dustbins to dispose off the waste materials and used water should also be disposed off in a covered container. The Street Vendors shall not litter the vending site and shall maintain cleanliness at the vending site. The Street Vendors shall abide by the waste management bye-laws &other relevant rules framed by Local body, A & N Administration & Govt. of India.
PBMC has warned that any violation of norms by the street vendors if noticed in the vending site, penalty will be imposed on the violator as per the prevailing rule under SWM Bye-laws and subsequently their names will be debarred from vending.
