Port Blair, Feb 03: The Baratang Ferry, which is fast becoming popular among Islanders and Tourists, is perhaps the first ferry to leave Port Blair at 5.30 AM, which is very convenient time for passengers of that route. But it has been observed that even if passengers are reaching at Jetty by 05.00 AM or 05.15 AM, they are made to stand in queue outside the X-ray screening counter as the CISF staffs usually open the counter around 10 minutes before the sailing of the ferry. This not only causes inconvenience to passengers but also causes last minutes rush, especially for those, who carry large baggage.
Adding to the pain the passengers have also demanded proper fumigation of the ferries, which are sent for Baratang as early morning passengers usually see thousands of mosquitoes in the lower deck.
