Port Blair, Dec 06: Indian Coast Guard is celebrating the “Swachhta Pakhwada’’ between 01 -15 Dec throughout the Isles, spreading the GOI flagship programme “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”. Indian Coast Guard is conducting various special cleanship drives aiming to spread awareness and implementation across the Coast Guard establishments, Government schools and fishing community with a focus on cleanliness and creation of a clean and healthy habitat free of single use plastics. The possible areas towards “Swachhta Abhiyan” includes public beaches, cleaning of in and around areas of Coast Guard establishment/residential places and awareness campaign at various Govt schools, public parks and beaches frequently visited by people.
A special cleanup drive including plogging is also planned to be conducted by Coast Guard on 07 Dec covering various places including Marina park, Junglighat, Offshore Marine Road Hadoo, GB Pant Hospital, Cellular Jail and Corbyn’s Cove beach. The programme will be conducted from 0630 hrs to 0800 hrs. Approx 400 to 500 Coast Guard personnel are likely to participate in the event.
Indian Coast Guard took up utmost efforts for mobilizing people participation to ensure that the mission truly becomes a citizen’s movement during “Swachhta Pakhwada”. In past also, Coast Guard had been focusing on cleaner beaches and surroundings of these pristine Isles.
