Port Blair, Dec 4: The general public residing in the rural areas that falls within the jurisdiction of Public Health Engineering Division, APWD have been informed that issuing and receiving of application forms for providing IInd individual connection in rural areas has been closed from Nov 30, 2019.
This is in view of the Jal Jeevan Mission of Govt. of India, which mandates comprehensive coverage of left out households with individual water tap connections in all habitations with limited availability of resources in hand.
However, all efforts are being taken to augment the water supply to meet the additional growing demands and the general public has been appealed to cooperate with the Department during this period as the issuance of additional water tap connections would resume once the Jal Jeevan Mission is accomplished.
