Port Blair, Dec 02: The representatives of various non-governmental agencies, organizations, Panchayati Raj Institutions, and general public of Rural South Andaman have formed a Citizens’ Forum to take up various issues with the Administration due to lack of apathy and negligence.
“It has been invariably brought to the notice of the authorities about the pathetic and unmotorable condition of road in Rural South Andaman, especially from Bambooflat to Shoal Bay and Ferrar Gunj. It has been more than five years, any major work has been undertaken to repair or maintain the roads. Many summers have passed, but the apathy continues,” Mr. J.L Tak, Chairman and Mr. M K Abdul Gafoor, Secretary of Citizens Forum mentioned in a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary
Hence, the Citizens’ Forum representing almost 07 panchayats have decided to organize a “Human Chain” to register our protest as well as attract the attention of the authorities towards the plight of the common man.
The Human Chain will be formed from Bambooflat to Wimberly Gunj on 7th December from 8.00 am to 10.00 am highlighting the indifference of the authorities.
The members of Citizens’ Forum have requested the Chief Secretary to look into the matter and mitigate the problems, the Islanders are facing.
