Port Blair Oct 28: The Indian coast guard station Mayabunder is regularly conducting “no fuel day” on last Friday of every month. as an initiative towards “clean and green Andaman” ICG personnel posted at Mayabunder are judiciously following this trend since may 2018. this initiative has motivated the youths, officials of govt. organizations & local residents of Mayabunder and encouraged them to voluntarily entwine with coast guard personnel on last Friday of the month. the intent of no fuel day is to sensitize the populace of Mayabunder to ensure pristineness of the Andaman archipelago. on 25 Oct 19 the no fuel day has obtained a positive appreciation followed by participation of government officials, students & teachers of government and private schools along with local tradesmen of Mayabunder. this initiative of ICGS Mayabunder is so promising that it will also reduce the effect of climate change in the coming years. Various agencies like SBI, BSNL, MGG College and Rampur middle school participated during the event.
