Port Blair, Oct 11: In a new development 74 KG of Mercury was stolen from the premises of Lighthouses and Lightships Department recently. On complaint a case was registered on 7th October 2019 at PS Aberdeen and after thorough investigation a team of PS Aberdeen was able to crack the case and recover 74 KG of Mercury, kept in two cylinders.
As per detail a team of PS Aberdeen headed by SI P Jeevan, SI Surjit, Head Constable Sunil Yadav, PC Suresh, PC Vinod, under the direction of SHO PS Aberdeen Inspector Sanjay Kumar cracked the case and arrested the prime accused Mr. Kuldeep, a resident of Dairy Farm.
As per details, another accused who is said to be involved in this crime is absconding. Sources said that the market value of the stolen Mercury is nearly 25 lakhs.
