Port Blair, Sept 20: The Department of Science & Technology organised ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ rally with the slogan ‘Swachch Rashtra Banana Hai; Har Ghar Se Plastic Ko Hatana Hai’ today (Sept.20, 2019), in which more than 200 students of Govt. Sr. Sec School, Bathubasti participated. The rally was flagged off by Ms. Anamika, Director, Science & Technology. She appealed to the students and teachers to adopt 3Rs i.e Reduce, Re-use, and Recycle to save the environment from the plastic menace. She requested them to develop a habit to carry their own cloth bags, water bottles etc while going for shopping.
Earlier, the Principal in-charge of the School, Shri V. Rajendran welcomed the gathering. He highlighted the importance of Swachhata in day to day life and appealed to the students to make their surroundings neat and clean and do not litter any kind of plastics. The rally started from the Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Bathubasti and covered the entire Bathubasti market area. All the participating students distributed the pamphlets, interacted with the shopkeepers, general public and requested them not to use plastic and also do not litter any kind of plastic waste to make the Islands plastic free.
