Port Blair, Sept 15: Hindi Fortnight was inaugurated on 13th September-2019, in DDK, Port Blair. The programme began with lighting of lamp by the Chief Guest Mr. Rajendra Indiwar, Secretary, TOLIC and Deputy Secretary (OL) / Hindi officer, Official language, Andaman and Nicobar Administration,
Mr. M. Sundaram, Director (Engg)/ Head of Office and other Senior officials of the Kendra. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest gave an elaborate speech on the objective of celebrating Hindi Diwas/ Hindi fortnight in various institutions. Being the Secretary, TOLIC he gave a brief description about the role of TOLIC in the Islands and various steps taken by Andaman and Nicobar Administration to propagate Rajbhasha in the Islands.
In his address Mr. M. Sundaram, Director (Engg) and HoO, DDK, emphasized on simplifying the usage of Hindi as official language so as to overcome the impediments in implementing cent percent usage of Hindi in this Islands which comes under ‘A’ region. Speaking on the occasion
Mr. J. Lakshmi Narasimhan, Asstt. Director (E) termed Hindi as a Vox Populi and a link language in Islands. Mr. P.M. Salil kumar, Drawing & Disbursing Officer called upon all the staff members to do their maximum work in official language Hindi and to come forward to take part actively in each competition. He also stated that the usage of Hindi should not be restricted to a day, week, fortnight or month rather it should be continued for the whole Year. Earlier, Mr. Deepak Ch. Tiwari, Hindi Officer(i/c) highlighted the achievements made during 2018-2019 and presented brief particulars of the competitions to be held during the fortnight, a communiqué received here said this evening.
