Port Blair, Sept 06: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands has taken up the matter with the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration urging him for intervention for urgent repairing of all the roads in Municipal area, South Andaman, North & Middle Andaman and also Rural roads under various Gram Panchayats.
Mr. Sharma has informed Chief Secretary that the road conditions at various locations in Municipal area, South Andaman, North & Middle Andaman, Rural roads under various Gram Panchayats are very deplorable with big pot holes and degrading day by day and damaging, which are extremely dangerous to the passengers/road users and may occur major accidents at any time. This may cause loss of lives of the peoples/passengers/road users due to absence of proper maintenance by the agency concerned.
He further stated that due to worst and deplorable condition of roads, the incidents being occurred as reported by the people are indicated below for his information:-
- The passengers including school going children, old age persons and medical patients are facing tremendous difficulties while travelling on the road.
- Drivers also facing difficulties for driving vehicles and vehicles also sustain damages.
- Similar problems also happen at many rural roads in South Andaman, North & Middle Andaman and Municipal area.
In view of the above said position, the Member of Parliament requested Chief Secretary to intervene in the matter to resolve the issue for proper maintenance of the all the roads at various stretches including rural roads for making worthy for the vehicles, at the earliest.
