Port Blair, Aug 27: In continuity of Coast Guard’s initiative to interact with fishing and coastal community of A&N Islands, a Community Interaction Program (CIP) at Fish Landing Centre, Junglighat was conducted by Indian Coast Guard Ship Rajveer and Rajtarang on 27th Aug 19. The event was conducted in close coordination with fisheries department and village panchayat. The members from fisheries department along with several local fishermen were present during the interaction.
During the event the fishermen were briefed about various safety precautions, while they operate at sea, including use of safety equipment and gears. The fishermen were educated about the importance of DATs and its usage. The fishermen were advised to carry all life saving equipment, boat registration papers including crew ID cards. Apart from this fishermen were brief about the need to be alert at sea and to report any suspicious activity or vessel at sea. A brief knowledge/demonstration on first aid and the CPR procedure to the fishermen were also imparted during the interaction. Various queries were effectively addressed regarding various entries for joining in Indian Coast Guard service. A communiqué received from PRO Coast Guard.
