Port Blair, Aug 25: While the work for bridge over Humphrey Strait is progressing very fast the work for Middle Strait has not started yet, except works for cleaning of Forest Areas.
When Contacted the NHIDCL told Andaman Sheekha that although the contractor has brought big machineries and cranes for the same project upto Haddo Port but they are unable to carry the cranes to Middle Strait due to presence of four bailey bridges of ATR, which are present between Garacharma and Middle Strait.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Mr. Manoj Kumar Verma, the Manager (Project), NHIDCL in Andaman, said that the Contractors are now exploring possibilities of transporting the heavy machineries and cranes to Middle Strait via sea route with the help of Shipping Services.
Mr. Verma said that once the machineries reach the site the contractors will begin the construction of the bridge, between Middle Strait and Baratang.
