Mayabunder, July 24: The Mayabunder region had recently witnessed massive protest by public against power cut. The Deputy Commissioner of N & M Andaman himself reached the protest site on the protest day and had promised to resolve the problem. After the protest the power supply was normal for one day but now again it has been observed that Mayabunder region is again witnessing 20 to 30 hour long power cuts. The PRI members told Andaman Sheekha that such power cuts are leaving public deeply annoyed and anger is brewing among remote villagers. “If the NHIDCL is responsible for power cable cut then the Administration must take action against them and if the Electricity is responsible then necessary action should be taken on concerned officials, why villagers are made to suffer,” questioned a PRI member. Sources told Andaman Sheekha that some grassroot leaders are now planning another massive protest in this regard infront of DC office of N & M Andaman in coming days.
