Port Blair, July 24: As part of month long celebration of 70th Vanamahotsava, the Mannarghat Forest Range, South Andaman Division organized a mass tree plantation drive at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Shorepoint on 23rd July, 2019. Mrs.V.K.Mariyam Bibi, Zilla Parishad Member, Wimberlygunj, Mr.Deva Kumar, Zilla Parishad Member, Mannarghat, Mr.M.K.Sundaram, Zilla Parishad Member, Bambooflat-II, Mr.J.Hemanth Rao, Pradhan, GP Shorepoint, Mr.E.Somesh Rao, Pradhan, GP Bambooflat-I, Teachers & students of the School and Forest officials of Mannarghat Range actively participated in the event by planting fruit bearing, flowering and shade giving plants in the School premises. The Chief Guest of the occasion Mrs.V.K.Mariyam Bibi, Zilla Parishad Member, Wimberlygunj addressed the gathering and informed the importance of trees in day today life. She also expressed her concern over deforestation and urged the participants for conserving the trees for a better future. Earlier, the Pradhan, GP Shorepoint, Mr. Hemanth Rao welcomed the gathering while the programme culminated with the vote of thanks by the Range Officer, Mannarghat, Mr. Ismale Kujur.
